Cary Edna Jackson, 89, of Lathrop, CA passed away July 26, 2015 at Meadowood Health and Rehab Center. Cary was born December 23, 1925 to the late Alma Clisby and the late Willie James Hughes. Cary lived in the Akron, Ohio community for over 50 years, and has resided in Lathrop, California for the last 10 years. She was married to the late James Benjamin Jackson for 23 years.
Cary retired from Sears at the Chapel Hill Mall in 1991 after over 20 years of service. She received several awards for customer service. She was an active member of Providence Baptist and Peoples Baptist Church where she served on the usher board for 20 years. She loved her church. Cary also liked gardening, cooking, traveling and spending time with her family. She dearly loved children and was a popular sitter for family and neighbors. Cary also loved music.
She is survived by daughters, the late Annette Jackson Lykes, Deborah Jackson James, Sacramento, CA, Vickie (George) Jackson, Lathrop, CA, sisters, Geraldine Campbell, Brooklyn, NY, Elsie Varner, Akron, OH, brothers, the late Willie J. Hughes Jr., Jerome H. Riggins, Yakima, WA, four grandchildren, Trenton J. (Wendi) Lykes, Prince George, VA, Derek J. Lykes, Akron, OH, Hasan Jackson, Manteca, CA, Jazmine Jackson, Oakland, CA, three great-grandchildren, Brandon Lykes, Prince George, VA, Jorden Lykes, Prince George, VA, Christian Jackson, Manteca, CA, nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, at 11:00 am, Word Assembly Church, 11865 Larch Road, Tracy, CA. Final internment at Glendale Cemetery, Akron, OH, August 8.
