Cathy L. Honzell, 53, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 2, 2009 in Manteca.

She was born May 24, 1955 in Silver City, New Mexico, and has resided in the San Joaquin Valley area since the late 1960s.

She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn McCarthy of Sacramento; parents John & Chizuko Honzell, of Manteca; sisters Mary Ann Gonzales of Washington, Pat Owen of Modesto, and Sondra Hardin of Volcano; nephews Eddie Gonzales, Tony Honzell, Levi Randolph; and niece Stefanie Gilliam. She also leaves behind her faithful companion and best friend, Kia, her miniature greyhound.

Before retiring she worked for Sharpe Army Depot and Tracy Defense Depot as a 911 dispatcher for over 17 years. Cathy was a strong, compassionate, fun-loving woman who treasured spending time with her family and friends. She was very creative, and enjoyed scrapbooking and making her own greeting cards. She also enjoyed shopping, traveling and spending time in Monterey. Cathy was an amazing cook, She’d often treat her family to wonderful gourmet foods.

Cathy was an incredible person and will truly be missed very much by all her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her son, David McCarthy.

A Celebration of Life Service is being held Thursday, March 12, at 11 a.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca. P. L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in care of all funeral arrangements.
