Cheryl Lee De Boer of Ripon, CA passed away suddenly on December 17, 2017. She was 72 years old. Cheryl was born on August 6, 1945 in Lodi, CA. She attended Modesto City Schools and graduated in 1964 from Thomas Downey High School. Following graduation, she worked several secretarial jobs before getting married.
   Cheryl’s parents were Edwin and Joanne Schmidt. Her siblings are Robert (Bob) Schmidt of Modesto, CA and Sue Pritzker (Victor) of Portland, OR. Cheryl met her husband, Jerry De Boer in 1963 and they were joined in marriage on October 28, 1966. They were married for 47 years when Jerry passed away on December 6, 2013. Cheryl worked for De Boer’s Truck Lines before beginning New Highway Carrier’s with her husband and siblings.
   Cheryl has two daughters, Angela Nunes (Joe) and Renae De Boer- Gonzalez, who both live locally. She also has four grandchildren, Stephanie Gonzalez, Seth Gonzalez, Ryan Nunes and Jacob Nunes. After retiring from the Trucking Industry, Cheryl enjoyed spending time gardening with her husband. They spent many weekends planning and planting their beautiful gardens at their home on California Street. Cheryl also enjoyed decorating her new townhouse in her final years. She loved shopping with her daughters, her sister and her granddaughter. One of her favorite activities in her final years was socializing with her friends at Zion United Reformed Church and Bethany Town Square.
   Cheryl is preceded in death by her husband Jerry and her parents Edwin and Joanne Schmidt. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 21, from 5:30-7p.m. at Deegan Ripon Memorial Chapel, 111 South Palm Avenue, in Ripon.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 22, at 10 a.m. at Ripon Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Zion United Reformed Church, 220 Canal Blvd., in Ripon.
