Cipriano “Jimmy” Montiel, 73, entered into eternal rest surrounded by his family on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in Stockton, California. He was born Thursday, May 11, 1939 in Stockton, California. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings and first wife Marilyn Montiel.

He leaves behind his loving wife Arnita Yepez of Lathrop. His children James Montiel and wife Deborah of Manteca, Chris Montiel and wife Stephanie of Stockton, Richard Montiel and wife Frances of Manteca, Eric Montiel and wife Olga of Lathrop, David Yepez of OK, Phillip Yepez of Lathrop, Jacqueline Mattes and husband Roger of Lathrop and Gaye Valadez and husband Mark of Lathrop. He was blessed with 18 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren. Jimmy has five surviving siblings, Maria Moyses , Lourdes Montiel, Leo Montiel, Guadalupe “Freddy” Montiel and wife Victoria and David Montiel.

Jimmy was a lifetime Lathrop resident. He retired from Safeway after many years of hard work and dedication. Jimmy was a pillar of his community being involved in multiple clubs and organizations. He was a faithful member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, where he and wife Arnita dedicated time and devotion to building fund. Jimmy served as a Parks and Recreation Commissioner

for the City of Lathrop, Mayor of Celebrations, Scout Master, Lions Club of Lathrop as well as a Little League Coach. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus. He loved his family dearly and looked forward to family get-togethers. He was truly loved by everyone who knew him and he treasured every relationship. Jimmy was the heart of his family and the center of his wife’s Arnita, world. He will truly be missed and cherished, and his name will go on in his family and in the City of Lathrop forever.

Arrangements for Mr. Montiel are under the direction of P.L. Fry and Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road, Manteca.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm followed by a Rosary at 5:00 pm at PL Fry & Son Funeral Home. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 29,2012 at 10:00am at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 16200 Cambridge Drive, Lathrop, California. He will be laid to rest at Parkview Cemetery, 3661 East French Camp Road, French Camp, California. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church Building Fund, 16200 Cambridge Drive, Lathrop, California 95330.
