Clair A. Weast was born in Modesto on October 13, 1913, Clair passed away in Manteca on April 27, 2009. He lived 72 of his 95 years in San Joaquin County.

He is the son of the late Benjamin and Anna Weast.  He was raised in Big Oak Flat and was part of the Class of 1931 from Sonora High School. He attended Modesto Junior College where he met Elsie Orr whom he married in 1940.

Clair earned a doctorate at UC Berkeley.  He had a long and distinguished career in the food science and technology industry. Clair is survived by his daughter, Kathy Miller of Pacific Grove, 5 granddaughters, 7 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and his niece Marian Moore.

He was preceded in death by his wife Elsie in 1994 and his daughter Edith Claire in 1999.  

A celebration of Clair’s life will be held at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Manteca on Saturday, May 2, at 1:30 p.m.
