Duke passed away at his home in Manteca. Duke was born in Chicago to his parents, Albin Freeman and Frances Procunier. In 1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and fought in the Korean War as a paratrooper. He served his country with great pride and was a member of the Disabled War Veterans. He was a Golden Gloves boxer and enjoyed golf and bowling. Before retiring, he was a supervisor at the Independent Journal in San Rafael.
Duke is survived by his sister Gloria of Minnesota, sons Dan (Melinda) of Modesto, Stuart (Angel) of Escalon, grandchildren Christina, Courtney, Daniel, Fallon, and Maya, and great granddaughter Aleska. He was preceded in death by his parents, son David, and granddaughter Brianna.
A service will be held at the San Joaquin National Cemetery in Santa Nella on Friday, August 24th at 1:30 p.m. A memorial luncheon will be held at the American Legion Hall in Manteca on Sunday, August 26th at 12:00 p.m.
