Clinton E. (Clint) Poole

Clint passed away Sunday at the age of 76, following a short illness. He was born in Pocatello, Idaho and was preceeded in death by his brother Efton of Jackson, Wyoming, parents, Rawlston and Maxine of Portland, Oregon and grandson Clinton Joshua Poole of Manteca.

Clint joined the Air Force at the age of 17 and did his basic training at Camp Parks in Pleasanton, CA.  He served for seven years in communications and had a top secret clearance.  He was stationed in Tacoma, WA. in Spain as an intepreter, and concluded his service at Barksdale A.F. Base near Shreveport, Louisianna.

He and Louise were married 56 years and lived in Manteca over 44 years and raised three children here.  Clint was employed by Southern Pacific R.R. for 36 years, first as a communications lineman, then as a equipment installer, and as a microwave tech.  Two of Clints favorite past times were fixing electronic gadgets and was known by family members as Mr. Fixer.  His other fun thing to do was golf.  He was a regular at the Manteca Golf course and played three days a week with Joe, Tom, and Bob.

Clint was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints serving as bishop for six years, executive secretary to the Stake president and High Counselor.

He is survived by his wife Louise, children, Michael (Susan) of Escalon, Linda Betteridge (Boyd) of Winnemucca, NV. and Nicholas also of Winnemucca. Grandchildren, John, Jacob, and Kevin Poole, Phillip, Nathan, and Sarah Betteridge, brothers, Gary and Dennis, and sister Janet Muir.

Services for Mr. Poole will be Monday, October 7th, with viewing at 10 am and funeral at 11 am at the L.D. S. Chapel located at 6060 Northland and will be followed by graveside service at Park View Cemetary on French Camp, Road at 1:30 pm.
