Daniel Edward Jeffers departed this life on September 30th, 2022 in the comfort of his home in Jamestown, CA following a tough fight with a brief illness.

He is survived by his children, Penny Dixon, Janie (Terry) Keller, Daniel Peddicord, Jackie Jeffers, Lori Mayle, James Mayle, and Gary Mayle, and his siblings, Larry (companion, Kathleen) Akers, James (Mary Ann) Akers, Thomas (Elaine) Stalker, Regina Lambert, and a special cousin, Margaret Ann. He also leaves behind several loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and his very best friend, Lois.

Dan was born in Glencoe, Ohio on September 26th, 1937 to the late Ruth Jones and Sias Jeffers. As a young man he worked hard in the steel mills, and other odd jobs, until finding his career as a long haul truck driver. He retired as a Teamster from Crescent Trucking after a long and dedicated tenure. He left Ohio for California in the early 80’s and moved around a few times before settling in Manteca, CA. After the 2008 passing of his wife he kept busy by becoming a regular patron of the Manteca Senior Center. There, he took the time to make friends, play cards and pool, and just enjoy his retirement. He also enjoyed taking regular trips back East to visit family and friends. These visits meant a lot to him as his last one was just over a year ago. He loved his family and friends dearly, being stubborn as a mule, the ocean, animals (especially elephants, dogs and cats) driving and traveling, telling trucker jokes, flirting with the ladies, listening to books on tape, classic country, and big band music, playing pinochle, spades and solitaire, and showing up at your house, be it 28 miles or 2,800 miles away, unannounced… surprise!

Dan is preceded in death by his loving wife Sue Jeffers, parents Ruth Jones and Sias Jeffers, brother Richard ‘Dickie’ Akers, sister Judy Reisback, son Randy Doughty, niece Ruthie Tourchette, and granddaughter Margery H.E. Christensen. He will be missed tremendously.

A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, October 9th, at 2 p.m. in Manteca. If you would like to attend, please call Sarah at (209)607-5997 for the location.
