Darrel Lee Erickson, 94, died Wednesday, April 18, 2018, at his residence in Manteca, CA. He was born in Washington on December 15, 1923.  Darrel was a resident of Manteca for 35 years.
   Mr. Erickson is survived by his children Gloria Jean Erickson Rhinehart of Turlock and daughter-in-law, Afton Potts of Hollister; grandchildren, Rey Lee Erickson of Grants Pass, OR, Bobbie Mason of Draper, Utah, Sabrina Leonhardt of Billings, Montana, Penny Kelly of Glenoma, WA,  Anthony Rhinehart of Turlock, CA, Randy Van Fossen of Texas, Wendy Best of Reno, NV, Chari Walker, Elise Potts, and Lanae Potts of Hollister, as well as 22 great-grandchildren, and five great great-grandchildren. 
   He is preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Maxine Perry Erickson and his son Leonard Daniel Erickson.
Darrel was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He loved his grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them and taking them on road trips.  His hobbies included genealogy, gardening and bird watching, as well as playing the accordion and trumpet.  He also hand crafted furniture and household items.  Mr. Erickson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy where he served for four years.  He retired from Lawrence Livermore Lab where he worked as a machinist for 42 years.
   P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home is in charge of funeral arrangements. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 27, 2018, from 9:30  a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 6060 Northland Rd., Manteca, with a celebration of life service to follow at 11:00  a.m.
