David "Bud" Keener

David “Bud” Keener, 73, entered into rest on December 31, 2022 at home in Manteca, Ca. after a long battle with lung cancer. 

   David joins his parents Everett Delbert Keener and Ruth Mae Choate and his two brothers Roger Everett Keener and Ronnie E. Keener.  He leaves behind his wife Susan Keener and his children John D. Keener (Tonya) Brandi Keener Travis (Jeff) Rick Mason (Renee) and Ronda

Underwood Kelling (Andre). He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and seven

great-grandchildren.

   Born September 24, 1949 on Hwy 58 in Taft, California, David’s family moved to Manteca in 1955. He was a Manteca Buffalo Alumni; joining the United States Army in 1967.  David was a veteran of the Vietnam War. For his service, he earned the V for Valor and The Bronze Star, achieving the rank of Sergeant at the age of 19. When David left the military, he went to work for PG&E as a Lineman, which was the start of his lifelong career with the company. He worked up the ranks in Line Department starting as a lineman, becoming an instructor and ultimately becoming a supervisor. David retired in September of 2005 after 34 years with PG&E.

In retirement, David enjoyed traveling across the United States with his wife, watching Nascar, fishing with his brothers and spending time with his

grandchildren. Family was very important to him and he loved having and hosting many family gatherings; thus, the annual family tradition fondly

named September Fest was born.

   Visitation will be held on Monday, January 16th,  from 1:00 p.m. to 

2:00 p.m. and Services from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00pm at Park View Memorial Chapel, 3661 E. French Camp Road, Manteca.  A celebration of life will follow at Chez Shari, 305 N. Union Rd., Manteca.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the American Cancer Society in David’s name.
