David (Dave) L. Fells, 82, entered into rest on May 15, 2020 in Manteca, CA, with his family at his side. He was born in Nebraska on August 24, 1937 and lived in Manteca for nearly 80 years. He considered himself a native Mantecan.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years Dorothy Fells, children, Dave Fells (Gayla), Joann Tilton (Ron), and Frank Fells (Liz). He was blessed by nine grand- children, Leslie, David, Ronnie, Ron, Spenser, Shawn, Cilleen, Coty and Rocco, 11 great-
grand children, Dominic, Patience, Dylan, David Jr., Logann, Hunter, Chevelle, Ryder, Beckett, Eloise and Lucas and one great-great- grandson, Jayden. In addition, David is survived by one brother Dick Fells and was preceded in death by five brothers and four sisters.
He was a hard-working man with an incredible work ethic. Caring and providing for his family came first. He loved family gatherings and never missed a school event, sporting event or other activity for his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. He never said no to a friend in need. He believed his place in life was to help others in any way he could, and he did just that.  Second to his love for his family was his love for all things Chevrolet. He worked for over 47 years as a GM parts manager making sure his customers had the right GM parts for their vehicles. It brought him great pride to have been recognized by General Motors on more than one occasion for his excellence in service. He enjoyed going to swap meets and car shows, especially with his family. He shared his passion for classic cars with his family, especially his grandsons. He could talk classic cars, the good old days and the history of Manteca all day. And, anyone who knew him, knows he ended every conversation with, “thanks for listening.”
The family would like to thank the caregivers who compassionately cared for Dave and the family in his final days.
Dave left an imprint on everyone he met. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
P.L. Fry and Son is honored to be serving the Fells family. A memorial will be held at a later date. He will be laid to rest at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Escalon, CA.
