Deolinda Dias, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 4, 2010 in Manteca. She was born on April 1, 1913 in Rosais, St. Jorge, Azores.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Manuel Silveira Dias, and her daughter, Victoria Dias. She is survived by her loving family: Jose and Leocadia Dias of Manteca, David and Lourdes Dias of Velas, St. Jorge, Tony and Helena Dias of Newark, Maria do Rosario and John Bettencourt of Manteca, Doris and George Bettencourt of San Jose; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-granddaughter.

She enjoyed crocheting and quilting. She made numerous afghans for family and friends. Family members were presented with an afghan or quilt when celebrating a special event in their lives. She was a devout Catholic who prayed the Rosary daily and listened to Catholic radio. She always took time to call her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren on their birthdays. She will be greatly missed and will forever remain in our hearts.

Mrs. Dias’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A Rosary and Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8, 2010 at 3 p.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 505 E. North St., Manteca, CA. Visitation will be held before the Rosary/Funeral Mass at 2:30 p.m. Christian Burial will be held at Calvary Catholic Cemetery, San Jose, CA. on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 11 a.m. It was Deolinda’s final wish that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to your favorite charity on her behalf.   An on-line guest book is available for special messages and condolences to the family at www.plfryandson.com
