Diana Sue Hicks was born on August 30, 1957, in Stockton, California to Robert and Iris Hicks. Diana was a resident of Manteca for the majority of her life. She graduated from East Union High School in 1976, and later attended Delta Community College, where she took courses in Radio Broadcasting, one of her favorite hobbies.

In 2008, she moved to Apple Valley Christian Care Center, a place she loved living and volunteering. One of her favorite things to do was to create weekly programs with encouraging scriptures and fun crossword puzzles for the residents to enjoy. While there, one of the highlights of her week was attending High Desert Church in Victorville.

Although her Spina Bifida limited her in the work she could do, she never wanted that to stop her from doing what she could. She performed secretarial duties and volunteered doing data entry for her father’s companies, Hicks Construction and Interstate Development. She also enjoyed all things Disney and Star Trek, latch hook, word puzzles, trivia, playing cards, eating chocolate, drinking A LOT of coffee, watching Days of Our Lives with her sister (with coffee and chocolate, of course) and keeping track of the American Top 40.

After her illness progressed, she was transferred to Sub-Acute Care at Legacy in San Bernardino and then later to Hemet Valley Community Hospital, where her final purpose was completed. Everyone who met her, doctors, nurses, aides and other hospital staff, said that her life touched theirs in a profound way. God’s peace and joy was evident on her smiling face and even in the midst of such difficult  circumstances, they realized that God was there…with her…and in her…and they were better for it. Her life was a testimony of God’s love.

Diana will be dearly missed by her family, which included her parents, Iris Hicks and the late Robert Hicks; her siblings, Sheila and her husband Lonnie White, Robert and his wife, Monica Hicks, Laura Hicks, Melanie and her husband Darren Holbrook; her nieces and nephews, Julie and her husband Robert Haro, Brian and his wife Teresa White, Robby, Jeremy and Joshua Hicks, Michael Dawson, Amber and Ryan Diekmann, Megan and Derek Holbrook; her great-nieces and nephews, Bobby, Christian and Alexandra Haro, Taylor and Katie White, Lily Joy Hicks, as well as many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and family friends.
