Diane Lee (Garcia) lriqui passed away Easter Sunday following a courageous battle with cancer.
   Diane was born in San Jose, California, on September 22,1945 to parents John and Lucy Garcia. She lived and went to local grammar schools and started High School in Sunnyvale. At an early age, she participated as a baton twirler, competing and marching in parades, with her sister and cousins in a group called the “Sparklers”. In 1959, she moved with her family to Oakdale where she attended Oakdale High School. She was active in many clubs and in the marching band as a majorette performing during half time shows. She graduated High School in 1963.  Diane worked at the Oakdale Leader for many years then the California Milk Advisory Board as an Admin Clerk, where she was involved with the Dairy Princess Program and spent many years promoting local milk and cheese products at the California State Fair and California State Fresno fund raising events. She retired after 27 years.
   Diane lived in Modesto and although had no children of her own she was highly involved in the lives of her nieces and nephews and their families who she loved unconditionally. She attended and checked on her great nieces and nephews at all sporting and extra curricular events. She was always ready to lend a hand, bake a batch of cookies, brownies or pies and crocheted baby blankets for many shower gifts and newborns.
   She was preceded in death by her parents and will be deeply missed by sister Laura (Garcia) Vierra (Robert), and brother John Garcia (Diana), as well as nieces and nephews, Michelle Luis, Joe Vierra (Candace),Christie Mayer (Pat), Amy Knittel (John), Tiffany Tarasoff (Paul) and Mark Garcia (Brooke), and great nephews Joshua Luis, Jack Mayer, Jace Mayer, Hayden Knittel, Robbie Vierra, Jacob Vierra, and William Tarasoff and great nieces Rylee Knittel, Jordan Tarasoff, Carley Vierra, Isla Garcia and Andie Garcia.
   A rosary will be held on Friday, April 8, at Lakewood Funeral Home, in Hughson, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. and funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 9, at Lakewood Funeral Home, in the Heritage Chapel, Hughson at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be welcomed at the Alexander Cohen Hospice House, in Hughson, CA.
