Diane Stellhorn
January 10, 1945-December 16, 2017
Diane Stellhorn K

Peacefully, and after a several-decade-long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Diane Stellhorn passed away on Saturday, December 16, at the age of 72.
Diane is survived by her two sons, Skip and Robert Stellhorn and three grandsons, her sister, Linda Hager and her brother Paul Dobkowitz. She is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Charlotte Dobkowitz.
Diane was born on January 10, 1945. She attended San Jose State, graduating with a bachelor’s degree. She attended Cal State Hayward for her Elementary Education credential.  She married her now former spouse, Dr. Frederick Stellhorn, in 1968, and the pair moved to Manteca, CA where she was a teacher for the Manteca Unified School district for over 40 years. She was also a dear friend and energetic horsewoman who bred and showed Arabian horses. She loved riding the trails in the Sierra Foothills and attending horse shows where her joy of horses was contagious. She gathered a large group of dear friends who would share in her many adventures.
Growing up she swam competitively and upon moving to Manteca, she coached the Manteca Dolphin Swim Team for over 10 years.  She was also a passionate and gifted gardener. She is remembered as a driven, brilliant woman with lots of hobbies and a love for horses and nature.
She accomplished her goal of writing a children’s book about horses while she was in a long term care facility. MS had taken most of her mobility, but with her iPad and her pinky finger she was able to write and edit “Zig, Zag, and Zoom through the Horse Alphabet: Horse Lovers Learn Horsemanship.”
P.L. Fry and Son is honored to serve Diane’s family. An informal remembrance celebration will be held at 2 p.m. on December 27th at Northgate Community Church in Manteca, California.
