Dick Hale, 78, died on Monday, February 22, at Doctors Hospital of Manteca. He was born on Sept. 11, 1931 in Pittston, Pennsylvania. He was a resident of Manteca for 27 years, prior San Jose for 20 years.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Lue Hale of Manteca; children, Dorothy Walker and husband Andy of North Carolina, Barbara Davis and husband Ken of San Jose, Ricky Hale and Greg Lewis of Nesbitt, Miss., Jay Bohme of Manteca and Terry Bohme and wife Toni of Modesto; siblings, Dorothy Ferkle and husband Jim of Illinois; grandchildren, Andrea Walker, Matthew Walker, Kenny Davis and Stacy Moore; great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Sydney, Ryan and Abagail. He was preceded in death by siblings, Elmer Hale, Henry Hale, Bob Hale and Ted Hale.

Dick retired as a Time Analyst for IBM Corporation in San Jose. He was very active with the Manteca Boxing Club. Dick and his wife Lue founded Manna Food Ministries in Manteca 17 years ago. He was an active member of the Manteca Chamber of Commerce. Dick was a longtime member of Liberty Baptist Church. He was a past member of the Manteca Artist Guild. Dick was known to many in the community as a very outgoing and loving person. His family said, “He was a terrific father and was always there for them.”

 Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Celebration of life service will take place Sunday, March 7, at 1 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. Final resting place will be private. An online guest book is available at www.plfryandson.com.
