OBIT Younger

Donald Eugene (Don) Younger, 62, entered into rest on September 28, with family members at his side, in Louisville, Kentucky.  He was born July 10, 1949 in Sydney, Nebraska to Robert and Alvena Younger.

Preceding Don in passing are his parents, Robert Adam Younger, Alvena Winkler Younger and siblings: Carol Nadine Younger, Sheryl Jean (Younger) Frey, and Robert Lewis Younger Don is survived by, Connie Lou (Don’s sister) and her husband George Markowitz, David Charles Younger (Don’s brother) Sharon Lee Younger (Don’s sister-in-law /wife of Robert Younger (passed).

He is also survived by the light of  his life, his son Eric Jason Younger and Eric’s mother Cheryl Lynn Kenny, as well as many beloved nieces and nephews, plus many other family and friends.

Don grew up in Manteca and attended local schools, graduating from high school and then joining the United States Navy, where he served proudly and honorably. Don was a very caring, fun loving person.  He enjoyed his time with his son, nieces, and nephews and liked to tease and joke.  He often played Santa Claus when everyone gathered at his parent’s house on Christmas eve.  Don had a great smile and never met a stranger.  He enjoyed barbecuing, spending time outdoors and camping and fishing with his son and friends. Don will be missed.

Don was interred at the Radcliffe Military Cemetery, Knoxville, Kentucky, with full military honors.

There will be a memorial service for Don, held in Escalon, at the St. John Catholic Cemetery, off hwy 120 on Carrelton Rd. (Just behind St. Anthony’s Church) on Saturday, October 29, at 11:00 AM.  All Don’s family & friends are invited to celebrate Don’s life.

Following the memorial will be a gathering at Round Table Pizza Parlor, 253 Spreckels Ave, Manteca.
