Donald Shupe

Donald Shupe, 86, entered into rest on February 21, 2015 in Manteca, Ca. He was born in Nebraska on September 16, 1928. He is preceded in death by his wife Verna Shupe.

Mr. Shupe is survived by his children Gary Shupe (Sandy) and Carol Howell (Gary). He was blessed by four grandchildren Angela (Curtis) Portwood, Shanna (Michael) Long, Chad Howell and Amy Howell and three great –grandchildren Annabella Portwood, Hunter Long and Halen Howell. In addition, Donald is survived by his only sister Patty (Gaylan) Kleveland and many other extended family members who loved him dearly.

Donald was a resident of Manteca for over 59 years. He was a proud veteran of the Koran war serving his country through the United States Army. In 1956 Don moved to California; working for Case Equipment in Tracy as a Mechanic. In the early 1980’s Don own and operated Don’s TV and Appliance in both Manteca and Tracy. After closing his business, Don went to work for Ace Hardware in Manteca retiring in the late 1990’s. He was a member of the Manteca Moose Lodge and the VFW-Ripon where he was the former treasurer.  He thoroughly enjoyed traveling especially to local casinos, Pismo Beach, and taking cruises with close family members and friends. He was an avid 49er fan and enjoyed a challenging game of darts. Don had many friends who were drawn to his fun witty and humorous personality. Don will be remembered as a dedicated family man; loving his family unconditionally. He will be missed deeply.

P.L. Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Shupe family. A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, February 27, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. located at P.L. Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd. Manteca. He will be laid to rest with his beloved wife with full military honors at East Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to the VFW post 1051 – 12455 West Ripon Rd.
