Doris Landreth passed away on October 8, 2018 in Manteca. She was born in Manteca on November 12, 1928 and lived there most of her life.
She graduated from Manteca High School in 1946. She received her Bachelor of Education from Stanislaus State College and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Administration from Chapman College.
Doris had a long interest in her community. She was the first Women’s Athletic Director for Manteca. She later taught kindergarten at Lindberg School in the same kindergarten classroom that she had attended. Doris also taught at Golden West School where she became a California Reading Specialist. She later became Assistant Principal at Shasta School. Her last teaching experience was at the Manteca Adult School.
Doris Had many interests. She was a member of the American Association of University Women and the Manteca Historical Society.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Ed and Jessie Dumoulin and her husband Dale of 52 years. Her sisters, Mary Helen Pitts and Mildred Fox also preceded her in death. Her sister Joanne Wood still resides in Manteca. She is also survived by her children; Candyce Phelps (Tom) of Bullard, TX, Stephen Landreth (Helen) of Ripon and Thomas Landreth (Kathy) of Grand Junction, CO. Three grandchildren also survive; Craig Smalley, Ryan Landreth and Krista Granshaw (Tyler) and four great grandchildren.
Doris was a friend of Bill W. since 1970 and she was active in the 12 Step Recovery Programs and formerly served as a chairperson of the San Joaquin County Alcoholism Board.
She was gifted person and will always be remembered for her sense of humor. Doris will be greatly missed. A celebration of her life will be October 26, 2018 from 10:00-10:30am at Prestige Assisted Living, 1130 Empire Ave., Manteca and a graveside service at 1:00pm at St. John’s Cemetery, 17871 Carrolton Rd., Escalon, CA.
