Duane R. Ploehn, 80, entered into to rest on June 3, 2009. He was born on July 4, 1928 in Bottineau North Dakota. He has been a resident of Manteca for over 50 years.

Mr. Ploehn is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years M. Yvonne Ploehn of Manteca. His children are Linda Wever and husband Don of Ripon, Michele Junqueiro and husband David of Manteca, Douglas Ploehn of Yosemite and Susan Smith and husband Dana of Stockton. He was blessed by 8 grandchildren Gina, David and wife Kim, Mathew and wife Kristi, Michael and wife Ambra, Lawrence and wife Lindsey, Thomas, Jenna, Kelly and 7 great-grandchildren; David, Ashly, Halle, Sam, Jillian, Tessa, and Lavin. He has 2 siblings; Sister Clariece Cochran of San Francisco, and twin brother Wayne Ploehn of Montana.

Duane owned and operated “Duane’s Tune-Up” which he ran for 33 years before retirement in 1997. He established a very reputable shop in Manteca which was dependable and honest. He took his work very seriously and joined “IGO” (independent garage owner’s organization, which he eventually became president of. In his spare time Duane had an amazing talent for restoring classic ford vehicles, which he truly enjoyed. The outdoors for Duane was a place to relax; he enjoyed golfing, fishing and boy-scout activities. Duane was a very devout Catholic; he was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Ripon and a member of YMI at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church of Manteca. Amongst all of Duane’s interests and enjoyments he truly was a family man at heart. He will be remembered as a giving helpful man who cherished his wife, children and grandchildren. He will be missed.

Mr. Ploehn services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Monday June 8, from 1 to 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m. Mass will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church 19399 E. Highway 120 Ripon, California.
