Edith Johnson

Edith Mary Johnson completed her long  journey on this planet on July 5, 2018. She was born in Oakland, California, on July 25, 1925, to Walter and Gladys Tye. 

   She attended schools in Oakland including Fremont High School. She completed Nursing School at UC Berkeley in 1947, where she met her future husband, Harold E. Johnson. They were married in March of 1947.  After spending a few years in Southern California, they moved to Manteca in 1957 where she lived for most of the remainder of her life. She was active in a variety of pursuits including the Manteca Federated Women’s Club, as well as working for H&R Block. She spent her last few years in Folsom where she struggled with health problems and dementia. We are all happy she is now at peace. 

   Her husband Harold preceded her in death. She is survived by her six sons: Gary (Cathy), Norman, Rodger (Lynette), Steve (Linda), James (Bettia) and Bruce (Stacey). She has eleven grandchildren: Jennifer, Carolyn, Tod, James, Darryl, Karlee, Niema, Jacqualine, Becky, Cindy and Kevin. She has nine great-grand children and two great-great grand children.

   For family and friends there will be a celebration of life at P.L. Fry and Sons Funeral Home, on Tuesday, July 17, at 10:00 a.m. The home is located at 290 N. Union, in Manteca. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer Association would be appreciated.
