Edna Petersen, 85, entered into rest on Sunday, March 14, in Manteca surrounded by her loving family. She was born April 23, 1924 in Spirit Lake, Iowa. Edna joins her former husband and friend Fritz Petersen in heaven along with her son Joseph George Petersen and two siblings James Holmes and Alice Matthew.

Mrs. Petersen is survived by her children; Donald Petersen and wife Kay of Manteca, Muriel Jean Garrett of Oklahoma, Fred Petersen and wife Sis of Manteca, and Fritztina Camden and husband Clifford of Manteca. She was blessed with 17 grandchildren; Donna, Mark, Dianna, Dana, Clint, Matt, Rob, Angel, Jeana, Ted, Ben, Rich, Rachel, Sarah, Rebecca and Joshua. In addition she leaves behind 29 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Edna was a member of the Church of Christ of Manteca for over 30 years where she enjoyed her Bible readings. She was also a member of the Manteca Senior Center where she enjoyed socializing with friends. Edna was a hard working independent woman who loved her family unconditionally. She was most at peace when working in her garden and tending to her flowers. Edna was a very creative person always finding the time to work on all her crafts. She was well known to her family for baking especially when it came to her Pumpkin cake it was one of her specialties when making homemade recipes. She also loved many different soap operas; she never missed a dramatic episode; calling her daughter to share the daily drama.

Edna will be remembered as a strong woman, an amazing mother, and a very special grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She will be missed dearly.
