Edward Charles Murdoch Ted

Edward Charles Murdoch, age 82, entered into Heaven with his daughter by his side on Thursday, July 15.

Ted was born to Robert Stuart Murdoch and Pearl Elizabeth Murdoch and was born and raised in Revere, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Army in March of 1947 and was honorably discharged in 1949.

 He then attended MIT in Massachusetts and soon began a career in computer programming in Los Angeles, CA. He graduated from San Francisco Theological Seminary with a Master’s Degree. While living in Los Angeles in 1959, one of his friends introduced Ted to LaVonne Joy Dalrymple. In June of 1960 they married.  He worked for several software companies as a technical writer and retired in 1995. He also drove a school bus for special needs children during retirement. He volunteered with the Veterans Association as well as Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos.

In 2009, Ted was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease and together both Ted & LaVonne moved from the Bay Area to the Central Valley to be near their oldest daughter, Gwyneth. He was preceded in death by his father and mother and two brothers, Robert and John Murdoch. Ted was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, and uncle. He is survived by wife, LaVonne, and by his devoted and loving children and grandchildren. His daughter, Gwyneth Fernandes (Troy Fernandes) of Escalon; Daughter, Lorraine Murdoch. Grandchildren; Raquel Fernandes of Modesto,  Joey Fernandes of  Great Lakes, Illonois, Brittany and Matt Best, of Escalon and  Zachary Fernandes of Escalon.

A memorial service is planned for July 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Trinity Presbyterian Church in San Carlos, CA. Arrangements by Deegan Funeral Chapel, Escalon with an online guest book at  www.deeganfuneralchapels.com
