   Surrounded by her loving family, Elaine (Pat) Higgins, 92, went home to be with the Lord on September 5, 2017, in Manteca, CA.  She was born on June 21, 1925,  in  Alabama  to the late JD and Bessie McDonald. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband Elmer “Bud” Higgins.
   Elaine is survived by her four loving daughters, Nancy Rhodes and husband Michael, Patty Oliver, Stephanie Higgins and Linda Brooks and husband Ken.  She was blessed with six grandchildren, Destiny Valaer, Ryan Valaer and wife Joey, Brian Oliver, Lisa Oliver Iscan and husband Zeki, Addison Rhodes and Nick Brooks and two great grandchildren, Jake Valaer and Jason Burch.
   As a military family Elaine was always attentive to her family making sure her home was just perfect. She enjoyed cooking and baking, showering her friends, neighbors and family with homemade specialties always made with love. She enjoyed politics and was an avid baseball fan and loved to sing and dance. Elaine was a wonderful example to others always demonstrating unconditional love, honesty and kindness.
   P.L.Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Higgins family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2017 from 4 p.m. to
7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca.  Celebration of life will be on Thursday, September 14, 2017 at 11 a.m. also held at P.L. Fry & Son. She will be laid to rest with her beloved husband at East Union Cemetery. Remembrances can be sent to East Union Memorial Cemetery, 1035 N. Union Rd., Manteca, CA. Michael Anthony Ott
August 28, 2017

   Michael Anthony Ott, 64, passed away on August 28, 2017 in Stagecoach, Nevada.
   He is preceded in death by his parents, Fred and Margarite Ott. He is survived by his wife of seven years, Sally Mason Ott and his children, Michael K. Ott (Carina) of Ramstein, Germany and Micele Ott of Oregon. He is also survived by his brothers, Walter Ott and Frank Ott (Karen) of Manteca, Fred Ott (Susan) of Shingles Springs and Earnest Ott (Kary) of Murphys, CA. He had two grandsons, Andre and Aaron Ott of Ramstein, Germany.
   Michael attended St. Anthony’s Parochial School and East Union High School in Manteca. He graduated from Calaveras High School in San Andreas. He went on to serve in the United States Navy from 1972-1978. He retired from Ripon Unified School District. Mike was an avid fisherman.  He and his wife, Sally, always enjoyed playing Bingo together at the community center near their home in Stagecoach, Nevada. Michael was a loving son, husband, brother and uncle but his greatest pride was being a father to his son and daughter, Michael and Micele.
   In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Michael’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.com. Private services have been held previously.

Michele Garino Bartels
February 14, 1945-September 1, 2017

   Michele Garino Bartels of Ripon, California passed away on September 1, 2017 at the age of 72.  She was born to Joseph and Marie Garino on February 14, 1945.   Michele lived her life in the Ripon area and graduated from Ripon High School in 1962. She married her high school sweetheart, Darryl Bartels, on November 16, 1963 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. During their more than 53 years of marriage, Michele was a dedicated spouse and loving mother.  She never had an idle moment. She was a member of the Ripon Garden Club for 15 years and co-president for six of those years. She was an active participant in the Catholic Church volunteering in many roles including Eucharistic Minister. Michele was a part of the 18 Hole Women’s Group at Spring Creek Golf and Country Club where she and Darryl have been members for 47 years. She belonged to an antique club, loved to travel, knit, and paint. Known as “Tia” by many, Michele would be an aunt to anyone she met. Her cooking and hostessing skills were never put to waste as all were invited to her table. For Michele, a full house was a full heart. She also had a love for animals. If a stray dog showed up on her property she would never send it away. She would find a home for it or take it in herself. Michele will be dearly missed by her family and the community where she gave so much.
   Michele is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Marie Garino.
   She is survived by her husband Darryl, her two sons; Joseph and Christian, their wives; Jeanette and Terry, respectively, her grand- children; Emma, Ellen, and Conner, and her sister; Joanne. Michele is also survived by 12 beloved brother and sisters-in-law,
16 nieces and nephews, 17 grand-nieces and grandnephews.
   A memorial service will be held at St Stanislaus Catholic Church, 1200 Maze Blvd, Modesto, CA on Tuesday, September 12th at 11:00 a.m. immediately following the service.
   A celebration of life will be held at Spring Creek Golf and Country Club, 1580 Spring Creek Dr., in Ripon. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Ripon Consolidated Fire Department.
