Elizabeth “Betty” Jarzemkoski, 86, entered into rest on May 10, 2009 in Manteca, California. She was born on January 24, 1923 in Smithfield, Utah, to Mr. and Mrs. Horace and Ethel Cannell. She was preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, and her husband, Stanley.

Mrs. Jarzemkoski is survived by her children: Janet Lane and husband Paul of Phoenix, AZ. Sherry Juhl of Modesto, and Arvil Jarzemkoski and wife Linda of Plymouth. She was blessed with 5 grandchildren: Debra Macias and husband Mark of Santa Clara, Caleb Jarzemkoski of Oregon, Jake Jarzemkoski of Sacramento, Paul Campbell of Escalon, and Jay Juhl of Petaluma. She had 3 very special great-grandchildren: Alex Navarro, Thomas Campbell, and Caitlynn Campbell. In addition she has 7 living siblings: Lenna Shockey of Manteca, Ruth Warner of Idaho, DeAnn Mendenhall of Idaho, Merk Cannell of Idaho, Glenn Cannell of Riverside, Norman Cannell of Utah, and Carol Martin of Idaho.

Mrs. Jarzemkoski was a resident of Manteca for over 61 years. She worked at Spreckles Sugar Factory for 20 years as a lab clerk. She was known to many family members and church members as Beth or Betty J. When Betty’s children were small she was very active in PTA and teaching and singing in the LDS church. She was active in the Manteca Senior Center where she was involved in various activities. She especially enjoyed studying genealogy and learning all about her ancestries. She was an accomplished seamstress and was a gifted artist. She had many special talents that included making beautiful wedding cakes, and baking fabulous candies to share with friends and family. To remember Betty is to remember her for her spiritual and inspiring demeanor and her amazing abilities to give all that she could give.

Mrs. Jarzemkoski’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A memorial service will be held on Thursday May 28, at 1 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 N. Union Road, Manteca. She will be laid to rest at a later date at the Tracy Mausoleum on Schulte Road in Tracy.
