Our beloved Betty, 95, was born on November 27, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois to parents Kreft from Germany and Sophie Barbara (Bogalecki) Kreft of Poland. Betty passed away peacefully on December 19, 2013 in Manteca, Ca.
   She met John Austin Smith and they were married December 4, 1945. Through this union they had two sons. Dennis John (Emily) Smith and Donald Patrick (Angie) Smith. She is also survived by one grandson, Jack Christopher (Shawna) Smith and her two great-grandsons, Landyn Shane and Hunter Jackson Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents and nine siblings, Leo, Helen, Stanley, Lillian, Edwin, Sophie, William, Marion (Mike), and Raymond.
   She worked a few jobs through the years, mostly retail. She also donated her time to the Manteca Unified School District’s “Reading Recovery Program” at the Sequoia School site. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Smith”. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
