Ellen Marie Williams, 90, of Manteca, California, passed away on December 31, 2020. Ellen was born at the Cottage Hospital at Richmond, California on May 28, 1930 to Thomas and Bridget Bennett.     She is survived by her daughter Kathleen (Tony) Vasquez of Suisun, CA, her son, Daniel (Linda) Williams of Manteca, CA, her son Robert Williams of Coalinga, CA,  her daughter Carolyn Williams of Broken Arrow, OK, and her daughter-in-laws Brenda Williams of Lake Bronson, MN, and Ruth Williams of Park River, ND.  Ellen is also survived by seven grandchildren, Jennifer Redmon, Amy Spain, Steven Williams, James Williams, Lindsay Williams, Dani Quinn, Sarah Hardy and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her sons Thomas Williams and George Williams.
   Ellen first lived in Rodeo, CA, then moved to Berkeley, CA. Her best friend for over 90 years, Marilyn Lewis-Canetta grew up across the street from her. They would stand on their corner and yell to each other. They stayed in close contact throughout the years. Ellen was a junior in high school when her father died. She was a graduate of Presentation Convent class of 1948. Following graduation she worked at Montgomery Wards Time Payment department for over a year.  Ellen married Bob Williams in 1949. She moved to Mission San Jose, CA in 1954. She worked for the United States Post Office from 1960 until she retired in 1990.
    As a single parent raising six children she became involved in their adventurous activities such as camping in the pouring rain and shuttling them to concerts. She delivered newspapers to paperboys for 6 years. She moved to Glenpool, OK, purchased a home where she lived with her daughter Carolyn and her two daughters. Upon her return to Manteca she was involved with St. Anthony’s Church of Manteca. She participated in numerous senior center activities to include: bingo, casino bus trips, Christmas party celebrations, and Halloween costume parties where she won first place for her homemade costume a number of times. She enjoyed reading, embroidery and cross stitch. She resided with her son Daniel until she became ill and moved into the Manteca Care and Rehabilitation facility.
   A celebration of Ellen’s life will be held on Friday, February 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, 2540 Church Ln., San Pablo, CA 94806.
