Ellinor McDonald went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 2:47 a.m. after a long bout with Alzheimer’s Disease. She was 92. Ellinor was the second child of Edward and Edna Meierding of Chicago, Illinois, where she was born January 4, 1923. Fern, Ellinor’s older sister of 11 years, often served in the mother capacity. Ellinor was the widow of Thomas McDonald (Jim) whom she married in 1940. Their four children, Diane, Richard, Jim, and Kevin were raised in Manteca- Diane Robertson spouse: Rudy Torcuato of Stockton, Richard of Modesto, and Kevin of Woodbridge. Their beloved son, Jim, preceded his mother in death.
Ellinor was a career homemaker, well known in Manteca for her cooking skills, having won several baking contests. She was an expert seamstress who made her children’s clothing, then later created her own fashions. She always had a beautiful complexion—one caregiver remarked that she looked more like a woman in her 60’s, than her 90’s. She will be missed by her grandchildren: Angela Yoshida, Carol May, Katherine Thomas, Daryl, Mathew, Jennifer, Sean, Mark, and Liam McDonald and Vanessa Hendrick. She had five great-grandchildren Pamela Lloyd, Jason Guillory, Sarah Yoshida, Owen and Ollie Hendrick and Evan and Eric Hodges, and three great-great-
grandchildren Roxanne and Henry Lloyd, and Gianna Guillory.
A memorial service will be held on July 18, 2015 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, 4910 Claremont, Stockton, at 11 a.m. with reception to follow. For those making memorial gifts, we request they be made to St. Andrew’s, Hospice of San Joaquin, or your charity of choice.
