Ellis Carl Marek passed away peacefully at the age of 94 on July 16, 2012. Ellis was born on January 31, 1918 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Carl and Marie Tank Marek.  He grew up in Oakland and raised his family in Belmont and San Carlos, CA.  He was a veteran of World War II serving in the United States Army.  Upon arrival back in California after the war he attended accounting classes which eventually lead him to the position of credit manager of Wilson & George Meyer Co. where he enjoyed a 37 year career.

Ellis was an avid tennis fan and loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hiking in Yosemite National Park.  He also enjoyed traveling with his wife, Ruth, and his family.  He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church of Redwood City and SIRs of San Carlos, CA.

Ellis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ruth Hasselbrock Marek, and sisters Althea Dodge, Ruth Jepsen and brother, Ralph.  He is survived by daughters Roberta Graham of Columbia, CA and Kathy Dei Rossi and husband, Gary, of Manteca, CA; loving grandchildren Kyle Dei Rossi and wife, Erica, Megan Jagelka and husband, Eric, Andrew Graham and wife, Natalie, and Elissa Morandi.  All of his friends and family loved him deeply and he will be greatly missed.

Services to celebrate his life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 468 Grand Street, Redwood City, CA on Wednesday, July 18, at 1:30 p.m.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Yosemite Fund (www.yousemiteconservancy.org/donate).  Online guestbook is at (www.deyoungchapels.com.
