Elsie Giest, 92 passed away peacefully on September 1, 2021 in Manteca.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 71 years, Abe. Elsie was born December 15, 1928 in Stockton to Oreste J. and Josephine Bianchi. She leaves behind her sons, Gary (Bonnie) of Ripon and Bob of Tampa, FL. She was blessed with five grandchildren. Amanda, Chessa, Gary Jr., Alisson and Kyle. In addition, she has seven great- grandchildren and two great-great- grandchildren.
Elsie was a lifelong resident of the San Joaquin Valley and all it had to offer, growing up on a ranch in Ripon she was surrounded by much love from aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. She could be seen driving her Model A Ford on Ripon’s country roads as she attended local schools and graduated from Ripon High School Class of 1946. She married Abe in 1948 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where years earlier she had received her first communion. After a short career with Bank of America in their Ripon branch, she became the first new mother in San Joaquin County in 1953, giving birth to Gary on January 1st.
Abe and Elsie settled in Manteca where her loving nature and quiet strength made for a wonderful home environment. Her generous hospitality, especially her chocolatey desserts, was appreciated by numerous family and friends. Elsie dedicated herself to her family and faith, becoming a member and regular volunteer for St. Anthony’s Catholic Church. Later in life, her family dedication was on full display as she provided her Mom love, comfort and support on her daily visits for 10+ years to Manteca Care and Rehab Center.
Elsie would have said her long life centered around her family and friends, she truly loved her mom, dad, husband, sons and all her grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Elsie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She will be deeply missed.
