He retired after 25 years from Johns Manville, in Stockton, CA.  In 1972, Ervan and Pearline built a ranch in Linden where they spent their time raising cattle, producing hay and working in their garden. He was a member of Free Methodist Church in Ripon where he was a past choir director, Sunday school teacher, and board member. He was extremely active in his golden years with many activities. He especially enjoyed the outdoors, packing in the Sierras on horse or mule. He loved poetry as he commonly quoted beautiful poems to his family. His heart was always full as he never took life for granted. Throughout his life he continually cared for others without judgment. His sense of humor was extraordinary as he always was able to put a smile on your face. Ervan will be remembered as a devoted husband, an amazing father and an incredible grandfather.
