Esther V. McLevich passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 31, just 2 months shy of her 90th birthday. A resident of Manteca for over 60 years, she was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on June 1, 1920 to the late Harris and Mary Dupre. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo McLevich and son Ross.

Mrs. McLevich retired as a secretary from Sharpe Army Depot and shared many happy times as a member of the American Business Women’s Association, Manteca Historical Society and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.

She leaves behind her cherished children, Larry McLevich and wife, Linda of Elk Grove; Gayle McLevich and Marge Thompson of Carmichael, her precious grandsons Michael and Matthew McLevich, and the Dupre and Eastland families. Esther has been surrounded and supported by numerous friends, especially her friend of 50-plus years, Mary McCleary.

Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road. A Mass will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 East North Street on Friday, April 23, at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. McLevich will be laid to rest privately beside her husband at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery in Escalon. In lieu of flowers or gifts, remembrances can be made in Mrs. McLevich’s name to your favorite school or educational activity.
