Eunice M. Houbein, 87, wife of Gorman Houbein of Manteca, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 surrounded by her family. Born February 14, 1931, in Manteca, California, she was the daughter of the late Plinio and Josephine Bianchi.
   Eunice attended Calla Grammar School and graduated from Manteca High School. She was a teacher’s aide at French Camp Elementary School from 1966 until her retirement in 1990. While working she made many lifelong friends and was affectionately known as the “lunch lady”. After retirement, Eunice remained active working on the family farm, enjoying racquetball, snowmobiling, boating, water skiing, and long walks at their condo in Leland Meadows. Eunice always put her family first and enjoyed watching the activities of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
   Eunice is survived by her husband of 67 years Gorman Houbein, daughter Barbara Rose, son John Houbein (Kathy), grandchildren, Katie Rose, Ryan Rose (Katie), Taylor Rose, Alaura and Ava Houbein and great-
grandsons, Trent and Bryant Lucchesi. She is also survived by her sister Elane Roberts (Jim), and brother Robert Bianchi (Kathleen).
   She was predeceased by her son Mark Houbein and son-in-law Ed Rose.
   Services will be held at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca on Friday, April 6, 2018 at 10:00 a.m.
