Evelyn Marguerite Branscum (Williams), 89, entered into rest on May 3, 2016 in Hughson, CA.  She was born on September 30, 1926 in Bellemont, Oklahoma. Evelyn joins her beloved husband in heaven, Velorien Coy Branscum (Vel), as well as, her parents John and Clarabel Williams and her siblings Georgia Hart and Boyce Williams.
Evelyn is survived by her loving children: daughter Sherry Potts; daughter and son-in-law Candace and Joel Tokheim; son and daughter-in-law Randy and Jayne Branscum, all of Manteca, cherished grandchildren Shondra Scarfo, Brandon Potts, Stacey Kalin, Justin Tokheim, Jason Tokheim, Adam Tokheim, Jayde Branscum, Chyna Branscum, and Rayna Branscum, fifteen great-grandchildren, and siblings Eleanor Munn and Gail Williams.
Evelyn along with her husband owned and operated three Foster Freeze Restaurants, including Manteca and Tracy, A&W Restaurant in Modesto and Burger Tree in Manteca.
After Evelyn’s graduation from Shawnee High School in Oklahoma. She worked as a telephone operator for the South Western Bell Telephone Co. Upon her sweethearts return from serving in the Army during World War II, they were married at her family home in Shawnee, Oklahoma on July 6, 1946 and moved to Fresno, California, where she worked as a long-distance telephone operator. They eventually moved to southern California and then in 1960 they moved to Manteca and opened the Foster Freeze Restaurant.  Manteca became her permanent hometown and resided here for 56 years. Evelyn retired from the Manteca Unified School District after working at Lathrop Elementary School as a Teacher’s Aide for 20 years.
Evelyn loved and was loved by her extended family. Her happiest memories were those times spent together as a family. Her caring and loving ways nurtured generations of devoted family members that will miss her guidance, love and her beautiful smile, but are comforted by the knowledge that she has gone to a better place. Her favorite bible verse was Psalm 23, “The Lord is my shepherd and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever”.
P.L . Fry & Son is honored to be serving the Branscum family. A celebration of life service will be held on Monday, May 9, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. held at P.L .Fry & Son Chapel 290 N. Union Rd.
