Flora Mable Alves, 99, of Ripon, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2009, in Manteca.

Flora was born to the late Manuel and Mary Morris on November 6, 1909, in San Jose.  She married the boy next door, Manuel Alves, and they were married for over 40 years until Manuel passed away in 1968.  She was a resident of Bethany Home in Ripon for the past three years and lived in the Manteca area for the past 80+ years.

She loved trips to Lake Tahoe and Reno, was an avid reader and loved crossword puzzles up until the day she passed away.  She loved playing Bingo at the Boys and Girls Club of Manteca and still played almost every week at Bethany Home.  Flora was a lucky lady who seemed to always have a new trinket on her night stand.  She was social, loved to chat and never met a stranger.  She loved 49ers football, Giants baseball and even attended a World Series game in Oakland.

Flora was preceded in death by her husband, Manuel Alves, brothers Manuel Morris and John Morris, and sisters Mary Morris Robinson and Madeline Morris.

Flora is survived by her two children: daughter Dolores and son-in-law Edward J. Cardoza of Manteca; son Lawrence and daughter-in-law Linda Alves of Ripon; sister-in-law Beatrice Kantack of Manteca; and brother-in-law George Alves of Valley Springs.  Grandchildren: Edward J. Cardoza Jr. and wife Belinda of Manteca; Ronnie Alves of Washington State; Linda Cardoza of Manteca; Lisa Harp of Manteca.  Great-grandchildren: Amanda Cardoza, Angelique Cardoza, Ryan Cardoza, Matt Johnson and Jason Johnson of Manteca; Eddie Cardoza III and wife Jessica of Ripon; and Edward Johnson and wife Maylee of Lathrop.  Great-great-grandchildren: Edward Clayton Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson, Noah Johnson and Em Smith of Lathrop; Gabriel Johnson, Kaladaya Johnson, and Caleb Johnson of Manteca.  And many many nieces, nephews and cousins.
