Frank Fernandez Jr., 77, passed away on August 3, 2009, after a short illness. He was born in San Francisco on May 23, 1932, the first born child of Frank M. and Sannie Fernandez. For the last 32 years he resided in Manteca.

He was the beloved husband of Patsy M. Fernandez. He was a loving brother to Jean M. Glass and her husband Bill Glass. He was the devoted father of Frank Fernandez, Fred and his wife Chien Fernandez, Patti Calvillo, Kevin Rose, and his cat Hobo. He was a wonderful grandfather to Robert and his wife Alicia Calvillo, Cody Calvillo, Hailly and Nicole Fernandez, and Frank Fernandez Jr.

Frank was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in combat during the Korean War. During his service he earned three bronze service stars and was assigned to the 3rd Infantry Division. He was a member of the Tracy Elks Lodge 2031, Manteca Moose Lodge 1850 and VFW, Post 1051. He spent over 40 years as a tile contractor in the Bay Area until he retired in 1994.

In retirement he became a skilled woodcraftsman, spending countless hours working on projects for family and friends. In addition to woodworking, his hobbies included traveling, fishing, boating, camping, and barbecuing. There was nothing that he couldn’t fix; therefore he was the handyman that all his family and friends relied upon. He was a wonderful, caring, giving and loving man who never met a stranger that he didn’t make into a friend. He will remain as a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend in our hearts forever. He will be greatly missed and remembered by all.

At Frank’s request, there will be no services. A wake will be held at a later date.
