Fred Manding, 70, entered into rest on February 6, 2020 in Manteca, CA. He was born on December 19, 1949 in Stockton, CA.
   He is preceded in death by his parents Justo and Peggy Manding.  Fred is survived by his loving wife of 27 years, Angela, daughters, Stacey Friedman (Nick), Shanna Scialabba (Jeff) and Shelby Manding, and son Jason Manding, grandchildren Jenna and JT, sister Junie Manding (JD),  brother Mike Manding, and brother-in-law Steve May (Tammy).  Fred is also survived by the many nieces, nephews and extended family members who loved him dearly.
   Fred grew up in Manteca and graduated from Manteca High School in 1967. He served his country in the United States Army and National Guard. Fred was a career firefighter and retired as Fire Chief after 43 years of service in fire districts across the Central Valley.
Fred was the rock of his extended family and was extremely family oriented.  He was also a role model for the countless firefighters who served with him and under him.  If Fred knew you, you were family. Fred enjoyed shooting, building models and afternoon rides on his motorcycle or in his Corvette.  Fred will be remembered for his compassionate spirit, his heroism, the kindness he displayed towards others and his love for life.
   A celebration of life will be held on Monday, February 17, 2020, 12 noon at P.L. Fry and Son Chapel, 290 N. Union Rd., Manteca. He will be laid to rest at Park View Cemetery.  An online tribute page is available for condolences to the family at www.plfryandson.com.
