Fred Mullen

Frederic Paul Mullen, Sr., age 77, entered peacefully into rest, surrounded by his loving family on December 20, 2013.  He was born in Chelsea, Massachusetts on October 6, 1936 to the late James and Cora (Blowers) Mullen.  He is also preceded in death by his son “First Freddy”, and his brother Albert Frost. Fred was a resident of Manteca for 51 years.
    Fred leaves behind his loving wife of 50 years, Carolyn (Perry) Mullen and their children: Stacy Mullen of Manteca, Shelly (John) Losoya of Copperopolis, Fred Mullen, Jr. of Manteca, Sherry (Ray) Azevedo, of Salida.  Fred was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Stephanie Smith, Janiese Jones, Johnny Losoya, Jennifer Losoya, Ciara Jones, Rebecca Mullen, Chelsey Azevedo, Jessica Mullen, Ashley Azevedo, Noelle Mullen and Brandon Azevedo.  He also has eight great-grandchildren.  In addition, Fred has three surviving siblings:  Ron (Diane) Mullen of Norwalk, CA, Jim (Angela) Mullen of Palm Springs, CA and Patty (Mullen) Morin, of Surprise, AZ.
   Fred served in the U.S. Navy as Gunner’s Mate from 1954-1957.  He was a truck driver for over 50 years with the majority of those years with George Perry and Sons.     Fred married the love of his life Carolyn at Saint Anthony’s Catholic Church on February 23, 1963 and was an active member of the church.  Many will remember Fred as a hard-working, honest, loving family man who always put others first.  He cherished his wife, children, grandchildren and great- grandchildren.  He loved to garden, work with wood, played many musical instruments like the harmonica (his favorite), the violin, accordion, and dulcimer (4 of them he built himself).  He was the strength, rock and hero of the Mullen Family and many extended relatives and friends. 
   PL Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 N. Union Road, Manteca, is honored to be serving the Mullen Family.  A visitation will be held Friday, December 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son. A rosary will be held Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, 505 E. North St., Manteca. A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, December 28, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Anthony’s. Burial will follow the mass at Parkview Cemetery, 3661 E. French Camp Road, where full military honors will be performed.
