Gary was born October 18, 1952 in Stockton, California to Roy and Juanita Faye (Billingsley) Whorton. He attended East Union High School in Manteca, California. In the Spring of 1969 Gary enlisted in the United States Army and proudly served his country in south east Asia. After receiving his honorable discharge, Gary went to work for Santa Fe Railroad here in Northern California, a job he loved with all his heart.

In November of 1977, Gary and his then wife Adele (Graham, now Hanson) gave birth to their first son Gary Lee Whorton; three short years later they gave birth to their second son, David Duane Whorton in December of 1980.

He enjoyed sports and Gary was an enthusiastic Raider’s fan. He had a passion for 60’s hot rods and loved to watch the television show MASH. He was an avid boater and loved spending as much time as he could on the water. He also enjoyed reading, music and pulling pranks on his children and grandchildren. Gary was gifted at giving laughter!

Gary entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 in Manteca. He leaves behind his mother Juanita “Faye”, his sons Gary Whorton and companion Dale P. Curtis M.D. of Sacramento, David Whorton and wife Juliana of Manteca. He was blessed with three grandchildren Angelina Whorton, Jovanna Whorton and Dj Alvarado. He has two surviving siblings Regina Jones and Eileen Rogers both of Manteca. He will be remembered as a most loving son, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be missed deeply.
