March 12, 1928-December 30, 2014

Beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by the ones he laughed with, lived for, and loved on Tuesday, December 30, 2014 in Manteca, CA at the age of 86.
George was born in Canton, Ohio on March 12, 1928 to George Ledger Sr. and Irene Stock. He left Ohio to join the Navy in 1947 and served until 1961. After his service in the Navy he continued his education and became an accomplished engineer. While working for Memorex he would meet his loving wife, Carol Ledger, whom he would spend the next 39 years with.
After his retirement George continued his passion for golf as a long time member of Spring Creek Country Club. When he wasn’t swinging clubs on the green he could always be found tending to his garden of roses, fruit trees, and seasonal vegetables. As a surprise to all that knew him he became a cat lover and would spend hours petting his cat on the front lawn, watching the grass grow.
He is survived by his loving wife, Carol; his six children, Diane Murphy, Cheri Roddy, George Ledger Jr., Lee Ledger, Bonnee Roberts, and Jimmy Ledger; 15 grandchildren including Rick and Jake Murphy, Josh and Jason Roddy; and 11 great-grandchildren; all of whom he was incredibly proud of.
No services will be held at the family’s request. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in George’s name at Happy Pet Owner, P.O Box 586 Lathrop, CA 95330. Contact Karen Duke, (209)858-2124, with any questions about donations.
