George Glenn Rocha, Jr. passed away peacefully at Turlock Nursing & Rehab on Tuesday, September 22, 2020. He was 80 years old.
George was born in Turlock to George Glenn Rocha, Sr. and Anna Mae Rocha. Raised on Orange Street, he graduated from Turlock High School with the Class of 1958. After serving honorably in the National Guard for a short time, he went on to attend Barber College. George married the love of his life, Delores Silva, on September 7, 1969 in Turlock. He bought a barber shop in Ripon in February, 1971, just a few weeks before his oldest daughter was born. George and Delores moved to Ripon and resided there until 1976 when they moved back to Turlock.
George will be fondly remembered as ‘George the Barber’. He loved what he did and loved the people who sat in his chair. His customers adored him because George was always good for a story or joke and never met a stranger. He will be remembered as kind, caring and full of laughter.  He loved his family, friends and enjoyed traveling with them. He loved his cars, taking impeccable care of them. In these last few years, his dog Gigi never left his side. He was a member of Sacred Heart in Turlock and the Knights of Columbus.
Along with his parents, George and Anna Mae Rocha, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jeanette Aja. He is survived by his loving wife, Delores Rocha, his daughters, Shauna (Matt) Teague and Dana (Richard Long) Rocha, and his grandchildren, Tai Teague, Elle Teague, Keelei Rocha-Long and Corbin Rocha-Long, all of Turlock. He also leaves behind his sister, Darlene Friesen of Hughson and brother, Ronald Rocha of Oakdale.
A visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., followed by the rosary and memorial service at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 2, 2020 at Turlock Funeral Home, 425 N. Soderquist Rd., Turlock. A private interment will be held at a later date at Turlock Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made in George’s honor to the Alzheimer’s Association at www.alz.org.
