   George Hammill Smith entered into rest on January 20, 2015 surrounded by those he laughed with, lived for, and loved unconditionally. He was born February 18, 1934 in Rome, New York.         He is preceded in death by his wife of 15 years, Toddy Smith. George is survived by his children, Lori Whitney, Lisa Chism, Lynette Defebaugh, Kevin Smith and Mark Smith. George was blessed with 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
   George grew up in Rome, New York where shortly after High School, he enlisted in the U.S Navy.  He went on to serve his country proudly over the course of 20 years. After his retirement he continued his career with the Navy as a civilian.
   George was a very generous and kind man, who would not hesitate to lend a helping hand. He donated time as well as monetarily to several organizations and charities over the years.
   He was a dedicated member of St. Mary’s Angelican Church in Manteca. He loved to travel especially cruising overseas. George will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed.
