Gerald D. Garlets

Gerald D. Garlets passed away on May 5, 2010. He was 74 years old.

Gerald was born February 15, 1936 to Virgil and Clara Garlets. He was born in Arkansas City, Kansas, where he lived for 4 years until his family moved to California. He made his home in several places but settled down in Napa in the 1950s with a brief stay in Tacoma, Washington, for a year and a half, and then settling back in Napa. He currently was residing in Manteca up until his death.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 10 years, Georgina Garlets of Manteca; his son Steve Garlets and wife Alice of Manteca, and daughter Becky Marsh and husband Leonard of Volcano. He has an older brother and sister, Elmer Garlets and Lois Tokar. Gerald had 4 grandchildren: Sherman Marsh, Stacy Keeton, Brad Garlets and Calynn Garlets. He also had 14 great-grandchildren with number 15 on the way. He also had a step-daughter, Amber Summers, and 2 step-grandsons of Spring, Texas.

Gerald was preceded in death by his first wife of 43 years, Margaret Garlets (1999) and also by 3 sons, Gregory Garlets (1979), Kenneth Garlets (1980) and Michael Garlets (2008).

Gerald was a wonderful husband, father, and best friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Memorial services will be held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 15 Chapel Hill Drive, Napa, CA on May 8 at 2 p.m. All are invited to attend. Arrangements are being handled by Park View Funeral Home, 3661 E. French Camp Road in Manteca.
