Gerry cargile Obit Pic bw

Gerry M Cargile, born March 26, 1921 in Manteca CA, went home to be with the Lord peacefully on December 26, 2015 surrounded by family. She was born to Francis and Ollie Dowhower, and joins her husband of 67 years Quincy Cargile, and son Lee Cargile. She was preceded in death by her siblings Curly Dowhower, Buster Dowhower, and Doris Villanueva. She is survived by her son Tim Cargile.
Gerry was raised in Manteca and graduated from Manteca Union High School. Gerry was a homemaker and loved raising her two sons Lee and Tim. She enjoyed yearly trips to Klamath for salmon fishing vacations. One adventure took her and Quincy on a drop of the hat notice to Alaska. Quincy had just bought a new pickup when a friend called and said lets go to Alaska. They packed up and traveled for 19 days, returning with over 9000 miles on the new pickup.
She was an avid gardener and liked all kinds of flowers, especially Gardenias, although she could never get one to last very long before it wilted and shriveled up.
She was an active member of Calvary Community Church for over 50 years volunteering her time and skills as needed. She loved to make house calls to visit the shut ins and bring them food or supplies. She was on the prayer chain and was a prayer warrior many years. She never turned away strangers that came up to her door hungry, she always fed them and gave them clothing if needed. Gerry supported over a dozen charities ranging from war veterans to St. Jude hospital, and many Christian ministries.
Among all of Gerry attributes her family was of most important. Gerry always had a smile and a quick wit no matter the situation, even making the doctor smile as he was giving her the prognosis of her situation her final week.
