Gertie Norris entered into rest on April 3, 2011 in Manteca, California. She was born on December 16, 1927 in Zinkville, Oklahoma to the late Mr. and Mrs. Walter & Sadie Cobb. She joins her parents in heaven as well as her husband Orville Norris. She also precedes her siblings; Beulah Whitt, Ruby Mc Allister, & Lucille Overstreet.

Mrs. Norris is survived by her son Richard Norris and his wife Brenda. She was blessed with 5 grandsons; Benjamin Norris, Richard Norris II, Michael Norris and wife Nicky, Steven Rose and wife Jennifer, Mark Norris and wife Jennifer. Her great-grandchildren are Megan Norris, Jayme Rose, Krysten Rose, Nathan Rose, Will Norris and Thomas Norris. In addition Gertie has 4 siblings that survive her; Felda Cobb, Paul Cobb, Roy Cobb and Glenn Cobb.

Gertie was a resident of the Santa Rosa area for over 40 years. Just two years ago Gertie moved to Manteca to be closer to family. She was employed by Los Robles Lodge in Santa Rosa for over 25 years. She enjoyed watching football as she was a huge 49er fan. Her husband was Vice President for the Boys Club Boxing where she devolved a love for watching boxing. She enjoyed a great game of pool and was ready to challenge a new player at any given time. She was a member of AA for over 20 years where she became a counselor helping others through their addictions and struggles. Gertie loved children but had a special place in her heart for teenagers. Gertie will be remembered for her free-spirited attitude, her fun-loving personality and her giving nature that never went unnoticed.

Mrs. Norris’ services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 8, 2011 at 1p.m. at Sebastopol Memorial Lawn 7951 Bodega Ave. Sebastopol, CA.
