Gertie is survived by her children; Debra Vandepol, Kathy Blandino, and Ken Hirsh. She was blessed with 10 grandchildren; Kristina, Tracy, Kimberley, Jennifer, Travis, Joseph, Samantha, Stephen, Kerri and Heather. Gertie was a resident of Manteca since 1979. She was employed by E.R. Carpenter as a Program Manager for over eight years. She was extremely involved with her community working on special projects and volunteering as much as possible. Her weekly highlights were attending the weekly chamber of commerce coffees and her meetings with the local Convention &Visitors
Bureau. Among all of Gertie’s volunteer work Gayle’s Place held a very special place in her heart. Gayle’s Place was named after her late daughter, which was a clothes closet providing clothes to those who were trying to get back into the work place. Her favorite motto was always “dress for success.”  She loved learning as she enjoyed reading and studying. She was currently working on getting a local non-profit organization started for dyslexic children promoting education through learning differences. Gertie had a special talent in designing and sewing and once put on a fashion show with her daughter Gayle.   Gertie enjoyed traveling to the east coast visiting with family. She cherished her special times with her grandchildren enjoying each moment spent with each other. Gertie will be remembered for her giving heart and her love for others. She will be missed.
