Glenn Dee Smith, 68, passed away in Stockton, on March 3, 2010. He was born September 18, 1941 in Lexington, OK to the late James & Rena Smith. In Heaven he joins his parents and two brothers Viencel J. Smith and James R. Smith.

A Manteca resident for the past 44 years, Glenn retired from J. R. Simplot in 2000 after 37 years of service. A generous hardworking man he was loved dearly by all his fellow co-workers. Glenn leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 50 years, Lavonna D. Smith; daughters Lori Fatzer and companion Eugene Rawlins and Shelley Bothelio and husband Mike; Mother-in-law Faye LaCoy all of Manteca; sister Helen F. Pope and husband Leland of Huntington Beach, sister-in-laws Dorothy Smith of Pensacola, FL and Connie Murphy and husband, James of Castro Valley, Aunt Gracie Northcutt and Uncle Pete Page both of Oklahoma. He was also blessed with five grandchildren; Jacob Fatzer, Logan Fatzer, Lindsay Bothelio, Vanessa Fatzer and Jessica Bothelio.

He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and good friends. He will be dearly missed by his faithful companions Brittany, Spaniel and Suzy.

Glenn enjoyed life and lived everyday to its fullest. He loved to have a good time, making everyone’s day more exciting with his contagious smile and friendliness. He had an open door policy and never met a stranger; he truly enjoyed socializing and having company. Glenn had a kind softness to him that made everyone comfortable and at ease.

Glenn’s hobbies were; hunting, camping, boating, salmon fishing and 4 wheeling in his Jeep. His love for the great outdoors took him on several adventures; taking his “rig” out on annual runs organized through his 4-wheeling club. He also enjoyed computers and electronics; always having the latest and greatest. Very hands on he knew how to use everything and fix anything.

Mr. Smith was a member of Manteca Moose Lodge, California 4-Wheel Drive Association, a Charter Member of Manteca Historical Society and lifetime member of NRA, Stockton Rod & Gun Club and Manteca Sportsman’s Club. Glenn was also an avid San Francisco 49er fan.

Arrangements are under the direction of P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home, 290 North Union Road. Everyone is welcome to attend a celebration of life service that will be held on Saturday, March 13, at 11 a.m. An online guest book is available at www.plfryandson.com for condolences and special messages for the family.
