Helen Marie Nordendahl, 88, entered into rest on June 4, 2011 in Manteca, California. She was born on July 9, 1922 in Berkley, California to the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph and Maria Avila. Helen joins her husband in heaven Robert S. Nordendahl and her only son Elvin “Al” Nunes.

Helen was blessed by two grandchildren Kathy Hayes and her husband Jeff of Manteca and Ron Nunes and his wife Kate of Washington. She completely enjoyed her 6 great-grandchildren Jeffrey Nunes, Nicole James and husband Jeremy, Justin Hayes, Doug Hayes, Jenny Hayes and Elizabeth Nunes. She adored her 6 great-great grandchildren; Alyssa Nunes, Brandon James, Sierra James, Sadie James, Buddy James, and Jacob Hayes.

Before moving to Manteca to be closer to family, Helen lived in Hayward for many years owning and operating The Hunter Lounge & The Hollow Leg. She was a former member of the IDES hall in Hayward. Helen had a wonderful personality; she was extremely social and loved to be around her many friends. Her funny sense of humor never went un-noticed by family and friends. She enjoyed family gatherings as she always looked forward to Mother’s Day brunch at Izidore’s and her favorite holiday, Thanksgiving where the entire family would gather to give thanks for each other. She adored her family and cherished special time with each and every one of them. She loved animals especially when it came to her cat “Lucky.” Some of Helen’s favorite pass-times were playing Dice and word search puzzles. Helen thought highly of her care takers at Manteca Care and Rehab; she thought of them as her second family. Helen will be remembered as an amazing grandmother and a devoted friend. She will be missed.

Mrs. Nordendahl’s services are being handled by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. All services are being kept private. In memory of Helen donations may be sent to Pets and Pal’s 12488 S.
