Hilda Lorita Fachner, 94, of Manteca, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011. Hilda was born in Wailuku, Maui, Hawaii on January 13, 1917. Hilda was a resident of Manteca for 65 years.

She moved to California from Hawaii after graduation from high school. She met her husband, Edwin Sam Fachner in San Francisco during World War II. He predeceased her in 1989. She is survived by her daughter Cynthia Grant, her son Samuel Fachner, 3 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.

Hilda was a clerk at the Sharpe Army Depot and Tracy Defense Depot until her retirement. She was a very active member and held officer positions in many groups including the American Legion Auxiliary, the Parent Teachers Group at St. Anthony’s School, Young Women’s Association at St. Anthony’s Church, and El Rancho Mobile Home Park Social Club and Sunshine Club. She ran Monday night bingo at the El Rancho Mobile Home Park for years. She volunteered at Saint Vincent de Paul.

A mass will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Manteca. Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery, Escalon.
