Irene Vasquez, 93, passed peacefully away on September 2, 2009 at home with her family by her side.

A 14-year resident of Manteca, she was born December 1, 1915 in Bangued, Abra, Philippines. She leaves behind her two daughters; Fenita Vasquez and Thelma Garces and husband Roque, four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and numerous extended family members.

Irene and her husband moved to the United States on June 8, 1976 and settled in San Francisco. Together they called it home for over 19 years, until Ruperto passed away in 1995 and she then moved to Manteca to be with her children. A loving mother and grandmother, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She also enjoyed traveling, shopping and cooking.

A devout Catholic she attended St. Anthony’s for the last 14 years. She had a joyful soul and was very generous. She encouraged all her family to receive a higher education; in helping them to achieve these goals she offered her home for them to reside in and assisted them financially.
Mrs. Vasquez’s funeral services are directed by P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home of Manteca. Visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 10, 2009, 1 to 7 p.m., followed immediately by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at P.L. Fry & Son Funeral Home 290 North Union Road, Manteca.
